The Ray's Ultimate Hockey and Sports Mite C North Stars refused to see their season end by topping Edgewood and LIncoln by 1-0 margins to advance to the state silver division championship. With their backs against the wall after an opening game loss to Burrillville the young Stars came out flying against the number one seed Edgewood. The Stars were pasted 6-0 in their previous meeting with Edgewood but this is a different team now as the Hawks would find out. Employing a neutral zone trap system that would make the New Jersey Devils proud, the Stars grounded the Hawks into the ice. A late third period goal by Kali Crawley was all the scoring the Stars would need. Still needing another win to insure a place in the championship game, the Stars faced off against a much improved Lincoln team on Thursday night. Lincoln was the lowest seed going into the playoffs but was giving teams fits throughout the tournament. The Stars used their signature smothering defense and a timely second period goal from Erica Rooney to post their third consectutive 1-0 victory. It is now on to the championship game on Sunday vs. Burrillville at 3:30 pm at the Smithfield Municipal Ice Rink. GO STARS!!!
